1) i'm assuming you mean "if it's not related to the job" since being fired because of politics is a function of government administrative churn, 2) if your views mean people are going to put pressure on your employer, because those views about about say, human dignity or rights, and your employer doesn't want to be associated with someone denying human dignity or rights, and more importantly to the US, there's a business cost associated with being associated with denying human dignity or rights, then it's now related to your job.
