I sent emails to a couple of people. I received really nice personal replies with encouragement and thanks. They were not really huge celebs. One was an author that most people probably haven't heard of and the other runs a popular website/blog.

Nice. Makes me think I should make the effort for any less famous writers/actors/creators that might especially appreciate the boost.
