Yeah, I've been kinda meh on the show itself for a while now, but I do really love the theme song. The blending of western gun-slinger vibes with elements that are more mysterious and "other" is really well done, imo. I mean, if the assignment was, "Compose a theme for a meandering western space adventure with a lone, rugged protagonist and lots of danger," then by god the composer understood the assignment.

I LOVE the theme, but they rely too heavily on it. When it's played in every episode (not counting the end credits) it loses its impact.

I don't think just reading fanfiction without engaging makes you a digital pirate. The authors themselves put it on a website that doesn't require you to engage at all. Sure, people may bitch and moan about not getting enough engagement, but it's not a requirement.

Not leaving a comment doesn't make someone a thief or an asshole. Going somewhere to brag about how you don't comment is kind of an asshole move, but the rest of this is just... I don't really understand what you're doing here.

This is normal okay and fine actually. It's good that you leave kudos, because authors like kudos, it's like a little dopamine boost for them.

I don't know why this is even a secret actually? I mean don't most people just uh like, read fics and uh, like, whatever? Kudos to you fic readers who bother leaving kudos, tbh! Boost that dopamine, baby!

But also if you can be bothered to make a comment here, or submit a fandom secret about how you don't comment or engage on fics except to read them and leave kudos, couldn't you also sometimes leave a comment on the fics? Because, like, authors like dopamine. We all like dopamine. It's a nice happy chemical to have in your brain, so, like, why not also just leave them a comment saying "hey, thanks, I love your fic!" sometimes, too? That'd be nice, I think.

I mean who the fuck cares, I haven't even read or written any fic in several years anyway. Ahoy tharrrr matey!

Before it died I had so many fanfic's downloaded onto my tablet where half the fics I had saved on there had been deleted off of AO3 - so for a while I was able to reread them (unfortunately, because it didn't have a sim card and I was too dumb not to email my favourite deleted fics to myself, those fics died with my tablet. I eternally regret that so live your digital pirate life OP - you're not making the mistake that I made :'D)

I have no opinion on TMA but I agree with the overarching thrust of the point here. Narrative podcast recommendations seem very hit-or-miss and unreliable. Not helped by the fact that it's a medium where you have to devote a pretty significant amount of time to really get a handle on the vibe and quality of a show.
