West Virginia, hands down. Lots of natural beauty, not amazing reputation but goddamn, it's better than MS.

West Virginia, no question. Better weather, better people. Can travel to the East Coast or Midwest easily. Not as good food probably but oh well.

West Virginia definitely. The Appalachian mountains are beautiful. I'm sure Mississippi has its good points too, but I've never been there.

Like many others commenting here, West Virginia, purely for the climate.

Possibly a slight possibility of being closer to a more politically progressive area across the border.

Hell, yess. That humidity is a killer.

Why would anyone choose Mississippi? They are both shit holes but at least WV isn't a swampy shit hole.

It is a beautiful state. I'm just going to imagine that if I have to choose one place to live I'm also being given a beautiful house and money to live on, so I'd hands down choose WV for the weather and landscape.

I watched "Lucky Logan" when the film club was running on this com a few years ago, and had never realised how beautiful West Virginia is. I enjoyed the film, and I enjoyed the scenery just as much!

Having traveled through both, I gotta say West Virginia. Going through Mississippi and seeing all the neglected infrastructure is super depressing. At least in West Virginia there have been pockets of investment to try to improve impoverished communities and make some headway in reclaiming mining land (such as through lavender farms).

I drove straight through Mississippi because none of it looked safe enough to stop in. We didn't even stop for food.

West Virginia. Better climate, beautiful scenery, and much closer to urban centers. I don't do well in heat and humidity, and I'd be much closer to my family.

In addition to the climate, I figure West Virginia has more actual cities and towns compared to Mississippi

If I were in Mississippi, I figure I'd have to be in either Oxford or Jackson. Whereas there's several urban agglomerations that seem more appealing than either of those in West Virginia.

I have spent time in both of these states and West Virginia wins, hands down.
