There's a TV actor I wrote a fan letter to a very long time ago when I was going through a very bad time in my life (among other issues I was in an abusive relationship) and I think I know how you feel. I didn't go into any detail about my problems in the letter but I did say something along the lines of how much pleasure watching him gave me when I wasn't feeling too good otherwise and he answered me back, sending me an autographed pic signed, "hi [my name], [his name] and that did help me feel somewhat better. I hope this helps.

Yeah, I appreciate the suggestion for sending some kind of message that splits the difference between "over-sharing" and not saying anything at all.

I may actually try to send a message, even if it ends up in the rubbish. Just to try and express my appreciation for something that made life a little easier at a certain point in the past.
