I don't think the author has much right to say "you can't do that!" but I think being upset is a legit reaction. Also, did they do it mocking the authors? Because if so that's a whole different thing and not cool.

I'll just take your word for it. The mere idea of watching that gives me second hand embarrassment, actually watching it would be painful. (Assuming it's a link to the vid we are discussing.)

Yeah, I agree with you. Like, there's definitely a risk that anything posted on the internet can end up in places it's not intended to be, and if you don't understand that risk you shouldn't be on the internet. But just because that risk is there, doesn't make it not an asshole move for someone to intentionally boost something far beyond the reach/scope/audience for which it was originally intended. Especially if it's done with the intention to point and laugh at the author.
