When push comes to shove, I agree. I do think, though, that "punching down" is still a relevant aspect of this issue though. I mean, there is a very important difference between "Let's publicly read RPF of ourselves and laugh at how ridiculous it is," which I think is completely fair and reasonable, and "Let's publicly read RPF of ourselves and laugh at the author for being a sad, pathetic weirdo who can't write and doesn't know how sex works, omg what a loser." The latter is needlessly cruel, IMO, even if you're totally within your rights to do it.

I have no idea how brutal these guys were about it. But if they were more in line with the former example than the latter, then lol, more power to them!

However, as an alternative scenario: if a third party takes it upon themselves to "surprise" a celeb by making them engage with RPF written about themselves, then in that instance I think both the celeb and the author are perfectly within their rights to be upset by that third party's actions.

Of all the celebs I've seen, they were the most respectful.

They weren't making fun of the authors though. Just surprising each other with the content of the stories.
