I knew a lady who got her Twilight fic read on some nationwide show (GMA?) by the actor who played Aro. I remember her being flattered but not overly any other emotion. I was pissed off because it was an AU fic with no relation to the original material. It was a fantasy world that the author once said could be on another planet for all we care. She ended up publishing it with very little changed and you would not know it was Twific.

So the original aim was kind of...eh, to embarrass the reader or the writer or the fandom? It didn't quite work out. I mean why choose an AU when there were plenty of canon fics out there?

I mean that particular actor has read fanfic of his own free choice. There's a non-zero choice he's read fanfic I've written, but I am mercifully unaware if he has.

Considering he's most famous now for playing half of a couple people have shipped for 6,000</strike) 30+ years, and he's pretty engaged with the fandom, I'm sure he has read a fair amount of it. I think it's different when it's a character you play as opposed to your actual self, though.

damn, HTML fail. Should say:
