I'm reminded of Lindsay Elis's (maybe?) Video about nazis in fiction. All about how they love depictions that show them as big, scary, baddies because they *want* to be big, scary, baddasess. But shit like The Producers can't be turned by them into useful propaganda.

Idk if it's making an impact but I love that it's out there.

Sort of off topic, but for the longest time I had no idea where the hell I had gotten the song "Springtime for Hitler" and that was the only bit I knew too (I was convinced it was a missing number in the Sound of Music).

Turns out I had only seen bits of both movies (2005 Nathan Lane version of the Producers), that song for stuck in my head, and I was further convinced it had actually come from the 2007 Vin Diesel movie the Pacifier, since one of the kids in the movie is playing a Nazi in the Sound of Music for a school play.

Anyway. Very confused until someone told me where that line was from!

Also, Chuck Tingle covers and titles make me laugh.

Nayrt

But that’s hilarious! And also, something I probably would have assumed too if I hadn’t already seen The Producers(the original). Imagining The Von Trapp family being in the same room as Nazis singing Springtime for Hitler is especially making me laugh!

DA

I was born where the Austro-Hungarian Empire
used to be. My family has a crest from that former country.

You guys are a laugh riot.

Why? Just because we forgot which fictional movie fictional song Springtime for Hitler came from? Or because I found it funny to imagine anyone from Sound of Music singing the song? Why are we specifically a “laugh riot”, just because you’re from where the Austro-Hungarian Empire used to be, or because your family has a crest from that former country? We didn’t say anything offensive to Austro-Hungarian Empire descendants, or anything offensive at all really, so why are we a laugh riot to you? I don’t know if that was the tone you were going for, but your response sounds weirdly superior and condescending for no reason.
