I still find it very funny. mostly because I don't know where the disconnect happened, and it really feels like it was heteronormativity to me, like they thought this was fanservice like the rest of the movie, like the majority of fans were in it for Steve/Peggy, even though movie after movie they show his deepest emotional connection is to Bucky. so odd.

Right?! He didn’t get into a huge fight with Tony about Peggy, it was about Bucky! It’s like the writers and producers went in with blinders on about Steve and Tony and their adversarial relationship. Argh!
This stil drives me nuts.

Every since Winter Soldier supercharged the Steve/Bucky ship, the MCU has desperately, desperately tried to prove Steve's heterosexual. The fact that Bucky is named after a president widely suspected of being Gay and is played by an actor with a long history of playing tortured Gay boys probably doesn't help. :D
