What is the true reason you are making your fanworks, your ats, your fics, and the like? If you are doing it because you love it, then you don't need the attention of others. If you're doing it *only* for the attention, then you're in the wrong business, buddy.

(Anonymous) 2009-06-05 01:11 am (UTC)(link)The feeling of being ignored is more that I'd like to be accepted into the community. I feel like I comment and fave enough that I should be making friends in the fandom, but it's almost like I'm being ignored. I don't even particularly want praise, as I said in the secret. Making fanart is my way of showing what I love, but I feel like "Hey, why bother posting it on the internet if no one in the fandom cares about my contributions?" In that case, I'd just keep it to myself. Like throwing a party, but nobody comes because they're all at someone else's house, and you weren't invited.

I've never figured out how to get accepted into a fandom. I'm active as hell in the capslock community of the one fandom I'm active at all in; it's partly because capslocky stuff is fun (and I'm crazy), and partly because that section of the fandom is smaller and I can get to know people one at a time. I've posted art and had it ignored, and while it bothered me a little (especially since I'm really not that bad), I've tried not to let it bother me much. FMA's a large fandom, for all I know my stuff could just be getting lost in the shuffle. ::shrug::
