Slavery and the Holocaust are actual violations of human rights. Compare that to saying you think anime is stupid to someone who likes anime. You know what, I, to some degree, actually agree with the OP of this comment that I made that whole Godwin's Law reply to. I don't think Hetalia is that big of a deal.

But it was their whole "Well, I don't care about other people or how whatever I do or say may affect them, and this is perfectly fine and right and they should just deal with it, no one should care about how other people feel" attitude that set me off.

BUT at the same time, you shouldn't have to change your behavior at every single thing a person will be offended over. I'm pretty sure you yourself like things that someone will be offended over and have no desire to change your mind over it.

This very issue is very gray area and plus had nothing to do with the point of Racefail anyway. It's about one person getting offended over material that had warnings over so this person KNEW what was in there. IMO, if you're going to get offended over something you're being warned against, you're setting yourself up for it. This issue is very much like a person who hates yaoi, goes to a fic that warns that has yaoi in it and then complains about it.

Most people aren't probably arguing against the OP, but I agree that not every issue that can potentially offend someone should be discussed with the offended and all that jazz. Sometimes, the offended has to put up with it. The only time that doesn't apply when it's a issue that actually matters like race, sex, sexual orientation and the actual important issues that can actually affect not only the offended but others uninvolved as well.

My problem isn't so much with Hetalia or even the main secret, which I don't have an opinion on either way.

My problem is with the attitude of the orinal anon-comment in this little thread. It just reeked of "I can do and say whatever the hell I want, and if it hurts anyone that's their problem and it doesn't matter, other people don't matter." That is not okay, ever.
