1.) Sokka and Katara are more influenced by Inuit/Alaskan Native cultures.

2.) Cultures add flavor to the story. They are not "the point." The story itself and the recurrent themes are "THE POINT."

3.) If all you got from the show was "OMG! ASIANZ!!!1!!" then I suspect that it was you, Original Poster, who missed "THE POINT."

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the issue. Thanks for putting it so succinctly. :)

I do not know how to have a cute little heart show up, but imagine I did. I know some Alaskan Natives that would prefer the term Eskimo over Inuit, because they are not actually Inuit. Also I thought some of the sun god stuff, was a bit Incan, mostly because as a Peruvian, I saw more similarities to my sun worshiping Incan culture, though it definitely could be another culture that I may not be aware of.

I watch for the kung fu too, or at least that's what got me interested at first.

To get a ♥, you either hit ALT+3 or you type & hearts ; taking out the spaces.

Sun warriors definetly were looking a bit Incan to me too. I suppose firebenders have some of that influence them. I think Hindu influence is there with "Agni" in "Agni Kai" too not sure.

I'm only in it for the Kung Fu as well :D
