A lot of people just started calling it 'Show' - like it was the only 'show' they watched, heh. It was rife in my LJ flist and coms, and I think i even saw it referenced that way at a couple cons (in vids) once upon a time.

ABOUT ANYTHING

air fryers

(Anonymous) 2023-05-04 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have one? Do you like it? What do you cook in it?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-04 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's Rosamund Pike" is like 90% of my explanation for why I love the show.

Re: air fryers

(Anonymous) 2023-05-04 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have one but I've used one at work (am a nanny). My favorite thing to cook in it is broccoli. It comes out so light and crispy and delicious. The kid loves chicken nuggets and french fries cooked in the air fryer.

Hannibal. Everything from coffee shop AU (real) to coffee shop AU (still serial killers) to vore to cottage core to supernatural creatures AU (lots of monster fucking) and everything in between. Nothing is too dark or too cutesy. Lots of pictures of dogs. And the fandom is very polite.

Las Vegas

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2023-05-04 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone who doesn't gamble been there? How did enjoy it and what were your favorite attractions? Thinking of doing a long weekend there since tickets are cheap and I need a vacation. Denver is also an option.

Am I misunderstanding what an air fryer is, or is it really just an easy bake oven for adults? Cause every time I hear about it, it sounds just like a regular oven except smaller.

That's Mario/DK getting into the ring

I've been to Vegas twice, never gambled in my life. The last time I was there was 2011, but I remember seeing The Lion King which was amazing. And then I had a friend that lived there that worked for some museums so I got a behind the scenes tour of a couple museums. If you're into history or geology, Vegas has a lot of really interesting stuff! There's also ghost towns in the area if you want to do a day trip drive. And of course people watching is always entertaining there.

I have a long weekend coming up and was looking at a close cheap short vacay as well. I thought it would be a quick fun thing to look into but it's somehow a lot tougher choice than a legit long vacation.

Huh. This game has been on my "Maybe" list for awhile but this secret is actually making me want to push it to the "Next in Line" mental list.

I've been there three times. Gambled with $20 the first time just to see what the fuss was about. Never did it again cause it was boring as shit.

The first time I went with my mom we just did the Strip, lots of interesting things to do in the casinos that aren't gambling (rides, shows, etc). Saw Penn and Teller and (this is probably dating myself) did the Star Trek experience. Be prepared for a LOT of walking, those casinos are HUGE.

Second time I went with my mom we used it as a base of operations to do country side tours - we went to Death Valley and saw some old abandoned mining towns and went to Area 51. I think you can also get to the Grand Canyon from there.

Third time I went with my wife, who had never been and wanted to do a race there (she's a marathon runner). Did the strip again, saw Cirque du Soleil. I think at this point I'm Vegas'd out.

I played the second game (not the DLC yet though, but I'm also looking forward to it!) and they do not mention anything about Aloy's sexuality. The second game is actually about her building platonic bonds of friendship with the people she's met (both from the first game and the second) and how she doesn't have to save the world alone (there is also a familial bond she also forms, but that's entering spoiler territory.)

I guess maybe OP meant "She is ace" as a definitely headcanon for them, not a "this was confirmed 100% in canon." That's how I interpreted it anyway.

Also ace, seconding this!

SGA was so much fun (until it wasn't)

[personal profile] randomdrops 2023-05-04 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
But really, so much fun. It's probably the fandom I've been the most involved in, and it was so fun to be in it real time as both the community/fandom and LJ kind of exploded. It was both huge and 'small town' vibes. The fic was straight up fun, and imo the fandom drama was entertaining.

I do! Well, it was left behind by my stepmom's son who lived here before me... I mostly use it to cook stuff like nuggets or other microwave food or make homemade fries.

Rec me a fandom or fic?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-05 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm bored and fandomless and have a hankering to read fic but at a loss of where to go. Anyone have a rec for a fandom I can go into relatively blind and enjoy? Or just a fic they loved that I could enjoy without knowing much beyond basic canon?

Steve/Bucky has been my main obsession for the past mumble-mumble-years and I think I've read that river dry.

oh come on, ANIMALITY! from mk3 was right there

I'm going to Las Vegas this autumn to see their Meow Wolf exhibit and a concert. I have no interest in gambling or partying but I bet I'll find some stuff to do.

I have more intel on Denver. Meow Wolf Denver is awesome, I recommend getting their super early so you can grab a parking spot. Red Rocks is a wonderful concert venue if anything you're interested is playing. Multiple sports teams. Elitch Gardens. A nice zoo, aquarium, and lots of neat museums. The altitude is a factor, drink a lot of water and be easy with yourself.

Meow Wolf is the one of the things I want to see! I know there is one in Denver but wasn't sure if it would be as cool as Omega Mart seems like. But it seems like it is awesome!

Yeah, I figured I'd see at least one show. I plan on going in the fall because I can't deal with Nevada summer temperatures.

Oh yeah, I'd love to see Cirque du Soleil. Seems like a fun time. I love walking so that shouldn't be an issue. I do plan on going in the fall when it isn't so ungodly hot.

Re: Rec me a fandom or fic?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Teen Wolf, Shadowhunters, and The Witcher have a huge amount of fic. And I've only seen the first 3 seasons of Teen Wolf and first seasons of Shadowhunters and The Witcher. I love Steve/Bucky and I get the same dynamics in the major pairings there.

Photos of photo ID?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I work for a local government and in the last couple years, tons of people (okay, not tons, but) have tried to use a picture of their photo ID saved on their phone when we ask for ID. Mostly I'd say they're 30s on down; any older and people just say they left their ID at home/in another wallet/lost their documentation/whatever.

Where are people actually able to use a photo of their ID for anything? There's one country in the entire world that has an official digital government ID as even an option; it's Brazil.

And even aside from government offices, banks won't accept a photo of an ID, cops would laugh (and ticket you), bars would be opening themselves up for so much legal shit, ditto tattoo parlors/liquor stores etc.

What's going on? Is it a pandemic thing that people didn't realize doesn't apply in-person?
