Fatui fire agent / some of the playable girls? Enjou/Lumine (preferably in his real body, after she soundly defeated him and he begged for his life)? There's some ... nice possibilities, I think.

Nah, but I see where you're coming from. The slash ships in Genshin are my favorites, too.

Yeah, I don't mind some het ships (like, I chose Aether but everyone he has shippy chemistry with I guess Lumine has as well so sure, why not but it just doesn't exist in my playthrough) but a lot of the het ships I've seen that are popular just either make zero sense to me (what is it with the Scara/Mona ship? Where did that come from??) or simply have much, much less chemistry than their slashy counterparts for me.

I can relate. I'm mostly a slash shipper, and the main surprise was that I can actually deal with some of the playables. Even if they aren't straight-up villains. Before I started I sort of sized everyone up and went "hm. Let me guess. The Fatui and ... some of the abyss monsters like the rifthounds?" And I wasn't wrong there. But to my surprise, also Kaeya and Childe and Scaramouche.

I've got no idea what the logic is behind shipping him with Mona, though. Nahida, I'd see, because she's proven skilled enough to stay a step ahead of him without ever being condescending. And as touchy as Scara can be, that's ... quite a feat.

I'm going to need to log off soon, but I'd be curious who you ship, in Genshin.

Also, are all the relevant English-language comms for this fandom on Reddit, or am I missing something?

I ship mainly Thoma/Ayato, Chongyun/Xingqiu, Childe/Zhongli, Cyno/Tighnari and recently am very, very much into Alhaitham/Kaveh. I kinda spite-ship Kaeluc but dont actively read fic for them or anything. In general, there are a lot of ships I totally see that I don't actively ship but passively support (like Ningguang/Beidou or Bennet/Razor etc.).
I really have no idea what the relevant comms are. I just go through the fanarts on Twitter for relevant ships and occasionally read fanfic but I try to keep my distance from the fandom as a whole because there are so many toxic assholes in it.
And I'm also someone who doesn't need all that much additional content for a ship if I think they already have plenty of canon chemistry.

Scara/Mona probably just because they interacted in the Unreconciled Stars event and she got mad at him for saying the stars are a lie, more or less.

Just looked it up and this event ended shortly before I started playing so no wonder I was so confused by this.

I generally think it's kinda mindblowing how much people who only start playing now have missed so far in terms of event-based character development and interactions.

Yeah, I started just before the first GAA and had to go back and watch youtube stuff for the events that I missed.

A friend of mine started doing Dragonspine stuff a bit back and met Joel's dad and I was like DON'T TRUST HIM HE'S PROBABLY A WHOPPERFLOWER and she was like, "wtf is wrong with you?"
