I appreciate your standing up for comments that aren't affirmation, per se, like mine, but I don't think the anon you're talking to here was being rude or dismissive to me. I took it as a real "why?" because they were perceptive enough to realize my disagreement was not an attack (and puzzled about what other purpose it could be serving), and careful not to attack me either.

I find expectations of "positivity only" to be oppressive, too, but they're widespread and widely taught. IMO, when someone doesn't get what I'm doing, wanting to get it is the absolute best response they could have.
