Gareth Edwards likes to compare his Godzilla movie with Jaws, saying that both don't show the monster. I agree with that. What I object to is him claiming that makes it good. In Jaws the presence of the monster was always felt, largely thanks to John Williams, in Godzilla '14 the big G's presence is barely felt even when he was on screen. It isn't the worst Godzilla movie, it doesn't shill Dr Pepper for a start, but it sure ain't no Jaws either.
