Hell, there are probably millions of people outside the US who are baffled about why November 9th is such a big deal. :D

I'm from the US and I've never heard about November 9th.

Is Nov 11th a UK thing?

November 9th isn't important at all. But in most countries, November 9th is the date that is referenced when someone says 9/11.

November 11th is a thing for most countries that fought in World War I - it's Armistice Day, it marks the last day of fighting when the war officially ended.

November 9th is actually a pretty important day in Germany for more than one reason.

Most countries put day first, then month.

US puts the month first, then the day, so 9/11 is September 11. In lots of other countries, 9/11 means November 9. (9 November)
