TBH, if some fandom made November 11 into their big day for memes, I would not even notice the conflict...

Same, anon.

November 11 is Pocky Day in Japan because 1111 looks like four Pocky sticks. Fanart of couples sharing Pocky abounds. Never seen any complaints about it, just people from other countries enjoying the art.

Hell, there are probably millions of people outside the US who are baffled about why November 9th is such a big deal. :D

I'm from the US and I've never heard about November 9th.

Is Nov 11th a UK thing?

November 9th isn't important at all. But in most countries, November 9th is the date that is referenced when someone says 9/11.

November 11th is a thing for most countries that fought in World War I - it's Armistice Day, it marks the last day of fighting when the war officially ended.

November 9th is actually a pretty important day in Germany for more than one reason.

(Anonymous) 2023-05-11 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
OK but that's not what the comment meant

Most countries put day first, then month.

US puts the month first, then the day, so 9/11 is September 11. In lots of other countries, 9/11 means November 9. (9 November)
