This. There are Africans queens in other countries of Africa that would have started with and started with the known Greek one. They should have started with Queen Njinga of Ndongo and Matamba first.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to have any favorite books about any of these places? I have measured my current knowledge of African history (fuck all, obviously) and am endeavoring to correct this, and I always love book recs. :)

This shows how little you know about the actual series on Netflix because season one of Jada Pinkett Smith's 'African Queens' WAS about Queen Njinga.

That being said, I wonder if having Jada Pinkett Smith's name attached to that series has caused a lot of people to dismiss it out of hand.
