I don’t even know. Fallout: New Vegas, maybe? I get that it’s easier to make a protagonist who does what they’re told, but I at least want a protagonist who isn’t making everything worse with their lack of thought.

For Arto, my breaking point was when I was sent to help another god in order to enlist his aid. The objectives told me to return straight to my god, but I went to the other god’s temple again, and it was in ruins and he was nowhere to be seen. So I went back to my god to ask about it, and there wasn’t even a dialogue option for that. My god was ostracized by the others, everyone else expresses suspicion or tells the protagonist to go away, and I never actually saw the next god after “helping” them as well, so I’m pretty sure my god is slaughtering her way through the rest of the pantheon.

(Other games that made me go “Can’t you fucking think?” include Bravely Default and Dying Light.)
