I've got this Fandom Friend Acquaintance who's very vocal in finding Genre X a squick and Genre Y a turn-on, and immediately dismisses whatever recs I can make no matter how low-on-X and high-on-Y the canon is.
However when *they* make recs half the list is made-up of Genre X. I'm starting to suspect that "X is squicky" is a flimsy excuse, maybe not even true, and it's actually my personal tastes they don't trust.
