I feel this way about bearded Steve Rogers (not Chris Evans, specifically Steve Rogers) and I feel weird about it. I thought about making a secret about it but *shrugs* meh.

Screw Cleopatra. I want Netflix to bring us the Ea-Nasir saga. It keeps getting weirder.

Will Trent

I recently watched all of Will Trent. I didn't like the copaganda, Ormegood's police violence being excused, interesting plots ruined by the 45 minute episodic format, c
the complete failure to folow through on the 'Will is hated for being IA' plot, or the forced found family feel.

BUT I really, really liked the depiction of trauma, for both Will and Angie, as a lived experience that both affected most parts of their lives but also did not prevent them doing their jobs. Even though the show has seemed to temper Angie's toxicity for the most part, I thought Will and Angie's relationship was one of the truest I've seen on a TV procedural. I hope they don't throw it away in the second season with an Angie downwards spiral plot.

The one remake I actually want that will probably never happen is a (semi-faithful) Short Circuit remake. It does not need to be darker or grittier. It does need to be less racist.

I watched Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down the other day.

I was struck how WHD is a better constructed movie in many ways, and certainly made more attempts to use the whole WH as a setting... and yet OHF was still a more enjoyable, better movie as a whole.

There are a lot of reasons I feel this way, but the main one comes down to: both of these movies are Die Hard in the White House, but WHD tried too hard to make Channing Tatum John McClane when he really, really isn't.

Gerard Butler has a lot more charisma and is more believable as a gruff action hero, which helps, but OHF also didn't try to make him JM. They let him be grumpy old Gerard Butler instead. And it worked a lot better.

I'm so, so tempted to start Honkai Star Rail just for Jing Yuan (much like I started Genshin Impact just for Zhongli). But I told myself I only get one gatcha game at a time and I have currently no intention to stop playing Genshin. I also hate the player character's weapon.

But damn, the temptation is real.

I can't decide how to feel about Legal Eagle cosplaying as Coffeezilla at the end of his video about Established Titles. I know the two of them get along, but....

I am starting to think all the problems in the writing for seasons 2 and 3 of Ted Lasso are actually because of Jason Sudeikis' (presumably) deep mental issues to do with expressing anger, confrontation, and accountability in relationships.

I have completely lost interest in Critical Role and find the latest season really boring. I think a big part is the storyline, but another is it now being prerecorded, the upgraded set and the more professional vibe. I miss the feeling of it just being a group of friends around a crappy little table having fun. It's just not the same.

(Though I am happy for their success and hope they get to continue to do their thing for years to come!)

I agree that Netflix's Cleopatra is not very good, and that Cleopatra was definitely not black, but I just don't agree with the way too many critics are pointing those facts out. It makes me feel icky and I want to disagree and defend it just on general principle.

Lower Decks is the best Star Trek series of the modern era, and SNW is a close secod, so I am stoked about the upcoming crossover episode. I don't get why do many fans are pre-hating on it.

I hate that so much of Indian media is focused on Mumbai, Kerala deserves recognition too!

tom cardy's music is so sick (good) that i can't believe he's not everywhere but i'm kinda glad he isn't.

i disliked fran drescher becoming sag pres. she's always given me reagan vibes. not reagan pres vibes, reagan sag pres vibes. not let millions of people continue to get sick and die vibes. but would sell out union members to government because they challenge her leadership and calling them communists is easy vibes. i hope she proves me wrong if there's a strike, but i don't think she will. i know this is irrational and everyone loves her, but this is why this is a secret.

I think that Disney oughta make the next Star Wars show be about Hondo. Yeah, I gotta keep this one a secret.

I wish more people could understand that saying a character is badly written isn't the same thing as saying the character is bad. Bad writing can ruin what is otherwise a perfectly good character!

IMO a badly-written character is worse than a bad character, because with a badly-written character you can see the potential they could have had if they were in the hands of a good writer. A bad character is just bad.

I've always been annoyed at fanart that doesn't resemble the characters it claims to depict, but having recently acquired my first m/m OTP in decades in fandom, all I can say is ugh.

Now, in addition to not looking like the (live-action so it's not like artists are working from written description) characters, some artists make them look almost identical (they're not!)

Also wtf stop lightening hair and skin and straightening noses, stop giving them wildly different bodies, it's not like there's a shortage of generic pretty people to draw; my OTPs don't need makeovers, thanks.

I've got this Fandom ~~Friend~~ Acquaintance who's very vocal in finding Genre X a squick and Genre Y a turn-on, and immediately dismisses whatever recs I can make no matter how low-on-X and high-on-Y the canon is.
However when *they* make recs half the list is made-up of Genre X. I'm starting to suspect that "X is squicky" is a flimsy excuse, maybe not even true, and it's actually my personal tastes they don't trust.

[Shaun the Sheep] I think Bitzer the dog should go on strike for better working conditions.

I'm kind of sad that Chester Thompson didn't join Genesis on their final tour. I grew up listening to his drumming on the live albums and feel like he really elevated their sound.
