It's the beginning of the episode. The clip might have cut out the ship whooshing and a captain's log, I 'unno, haven't seen the CollegeHumor clip. Regardless, for some reason, I don't pay attention to all that...

Fun fact: Theodore Sturgeon wrote Shore Leave. His other TOS episode is Amok Time, where it's established that Spock must mate or die.

Spock does not mate.

For one thing, there is no context for this bit. Kirk has a kink in his back, or pretends to, and when the yeoman starts rubbing his back, he thinks it's Spock. Which makes fans wonder how often Spock gives Kirk back rubs.
