Never saw the movie, but when I saw the London production (with no knowledge of where things went), withing five seconds of the detention scene, I was certain that was where it was heading. Celeb-crushes are fine, but man, those two were so so so so cute!

Because Link and Traci were just too adorable, that's why. As were Seaweed and Penny.

Truly the only real solution here is foursome.

Jesting aside, I wouldn't be surprised that there's not much alternative-fic going on there, since movies that do a good job of setting up a pairing usually makes the majority of fans jump on that pairing and that pairing alone. Sucks for those who see things differently, but them's just the breaks.

I SAW IT. ANON, I SHIP SEAWEED/PENNY TOO MUCH TO BE HEALTHY, BUT... I SAW IT. I FUCKING SAW IT. In fact, the movie-musical had me reeling for a moment before Seaweed and Penny hooked up officially because until "without love" I was wondering if Seaweed and Tracy were going to hook up in that version instead.
