It doesn't help that movie tickets for new releases cost around $13 per person for a matinee.

Haha. Yeah, I guess they weren't super cheap before the pandemic either, but as I only watched a movie once in a while, I didn't mind. Also, I'm willing to shell out money for leather reclining chairs with partitioned rows... I know, that's bad of me to say, but trust me when I say it makes a difference.

I also shell out for the leather reclining seats. It's why I don't see movies in the theater very often. That $13 is literally the price for a generic first run theater in my city with normal squashed seats. A nice reclining seat first run theater will generally cost well into the $20s. I can buy a videogame that will give me literally 200 hours of entertainment for that price, so I choose my movie theater experiences carefully.

Ah okay. That is around the price for very new movies. but a few weeks later they'll be quite a bit cheaper. I just saw Dungeons and Dragons in the afternoon for 9 bucks.
