the fandom has always been like this, you're not wrong. I was knee-deep in TP fandom right when it came out and there was, in fact, less disappointment and hatred than what came a few months later. Most fans fucking loved it because ahhh new Star Wars happy good. It literally took months for the hate backlash to begin, and when everything about Ep. 2 was announced and filming started, the "you're a loser if you like TPM" sentiment became rampant. it's what drove me out of the fandom, as a cosplayer and former member of the Rebel Legion, former Master/Apprentice shipper, etc. It was harder to be a chill fan than it was to just nope off.

I'm honestly not shocked that it's happening even to beloved faves like Mandalorian, but I really do want to guess at why it keeps happening. It predated Disney so it's not that.
