This hasn't been my experience at all. Prequel fans are the ones making fun of all the things that don't work specifically in the prequels, because they like hanging out in that corner of canon.

In irresponsibly broad, overgeneralized terms, the difference between someone who didn't like the prequels and someone who really did, and makes merciless fun of them because they still live in that universe, can be distilled into whether they disparage Jar-Jar and then change the subject ... or whether they could ad lib a stand-up comedy routine based on their pet peeves about the PT. And make .gifs and jokes and rants about the same, online.

The bazillion four-panel memes with Padme looking at Anakin did not come from people who are trying to forget the PT exists. Promise.
