I think on one hand, forget what anyone else may think. How does it make you feel? Both on the positive and negative side? Feel your feelings OP. I personally think you aren't as lame as you may think. Everyone has a lot going on.

I personally feel like I enjoy romances dipicted in media a lot, but still working out on whether I want it IRL. I'm working very hard on my Asexuality and what labels I might want to apply to myself.

I know for certain that I really creating romantic stories in my head with OCs as well as with characters in fandoms I love.
In my fan works I draw A LOT of inspiration from romances I love (especially the big kissing scene or love confession).

It appeals to you for a reason. Enjoy it while you still enjoy it! Whether there is anything worth digging deeper into, you will get there one day, but in the meantime maybe it's just something that brings you a lot of joy/comfort and there is nothing lame about that. <3
