They were my top band in 2021 on spotify. And I found them from The Witcher fanfic. People kept using lyrics in their fics so I was like, need to check them out.

I cannot express how much I love them. Something about that music just digs right into my soul. I'm not even really a big music person, but they are something else. I am just so impressed with Joey's talents - instruments, writing, and singing range. The Old Witch Sleep and the Good Man Grace blew me away.

And yeah, I found them via The Witcher. I think the show is kind of (lovable) crap, but Joey/Jaskier's voice really struck me so I looked up if he had sung in anything else and happily discovered his band. No shame! Just love.

After I listened to recommended song and liked it I recognized the guy's face on the cover. And was like... ah

Nothing wrong with that - bands WANT you to find their music, they're not going to care how. Having music in a popular TV show is an absolute dream for many bands.

For a minute I thought this was steampunk Bucky and that actress who tends to play overly anxious and annoying characters who have a secret band? A la Ryan Gosling

I have no clue who they are and the junk and shamble chic aesthetic they're going for is annoying me almost as much as the sneakers on the bed. But, I'll take a look at their music!

If anyone feels like reccing a lurker, I ran into this band on YouTube, poked at them and then wandered off. It seemed like what they were aiming for was ambitious and exciting, but the specific songs I clicked kinda fell short.

I love the name of the group, wanted to love their music ... maybe I just didn't know what to listen to.

Do you remember the songs you bounced off of? A lot of the fandom favorites are ones I bounced off of at first, too.

That said, Ruin is a more--I guess accessible? album than Love Run or the Horror and the Wild, and I loved it pretty much right away. I'd suggest The Calling (yes, it is long; give it that full six minutes), Blossoms, Inkpot Gods, and The Old Witch Sleep And The Good Man Grace (also long, and yes, I do suggest listening to the whole thing).

I have come to adore both Love Run and THATW, but those albums had to really grow on me for a while before I appreciated them. (Favorite tracks: Pray and Not Yet/Love Run and King from the first album, The Horror And the Wild, Farewell Wanderlust, and That Unwanted Animal from THATW.)

I also suggest listening to them with no other sonic distractions if possible, and also if possible, make sure your volume is moderately up. Their songs often start very low and then GO BIG.

Thanks for the advice and the recs. Things are pretty much always quiet around here, so it wasn't distractions or background noise, but I will mess around with the volume more at the start and try these.

I do think their latest album is their strongest. I enjoy the others but I kind if puck and choose the songs, whereas Ruin I'll listen to the whole thing. I do reccomend headphones if you have the option. There is a lot going on in their songs and I catch more with headphones.

Chords and The Old Witch Sleep are prob my faves from Ruin with Inkpot Gods right up there.

I too came to them from Witcher, someone mentioned a track on insta (Fair), listened to that a few times and expanded from there.
I love them, their lyrics are clever and they seem to enjoy their music.

I was recommended them through a girl at uni. I immediately told my sister about them. My sister loves this kind of stuff.
