I say - thank gods for that 'skip intro' button.
(one of the reasons i hate Hulu - it has the function, but it only works sporadically)

Hard same. I forget what show I was watching but it was an older one and had all the character credits and thematic song and I was thinking "awww, I miss this" but then yeah, I'd also be skipping it by the second episode.

Exactly the same for me. I love full-on credits and miss them. But I also fast forward through. Then again, I love a good nice long theme that I can download and put on my ipod.

From what I remember, most of the time when there was a long theme song, they also had a short version which is the one that they mostly played on a weekly basis. Streaming services always play the long version, so I also skip.

I miss mid-length credits (ideally around 40 seconds), preferably with lyrics, or at the very least music I can bop to.

I know the main purpose of opening credits was--duh--to give credit. But for me good credits always served as this fun little ritual at the beginning of each episode that got me jazzed to watch. And I miss that a lot. But if the credits are too long then I'm definitely going to skip them, and if they don't get me jazzed to watch the show, then I'm also definitely going to skip them.

I was just wishing a couple of weeks ago that VLC had the ability to tell what an intro was and have a button to skip it. Unless the intro is changing every time, it gets boring.

A bit of the same here. Some shows I adore the opening theme/credits and I tend to let them run (though ngl in the past year even these shows get the skip intro treatment).
Mad Men, Sex and the City and Succession being the only ones I can think of where the opening credits hype me the fuck up to watch the show lol
