You could do one version of it for, like, every day these past few years. I feel like there's always a dozen major news events happening every 24 hours.

There is a really good version that covers just 2020. I can't search for it now at work, but if you search YouTube it should show up.

Didn't someone do a tumblr version of it back in 2020, for the incomparable shitshow that was election week?

Anyway, I'm in favor of silly fanmade versions, and if they go viral, all the better. But I don't think I want an updated version in any, like, "official" capacity.

I’ve wondered a few times in recent years if he might put out another version. I think it would be interesting but ultimately I hope he never does. I think an updated version would hurt the legacy of the song and water down the message.

I like the idea but the execution needs to come from someone who can really update it while giving the same spirit as Billy Joel.
