Transcript: Having loved this miniseries, I avoided the movie for years. I'll admit, I was biased against it because I often dislike US adaptations. But I finally watched it in my most charitable mood... And I just can't believe how bad it is. Horribly awkward writing, full of unnecessary dramatics and antagonism. They managed to make every single character less intelligent and less interesting. And much higher budget cast, but somehow much worse acting. I'm really trying to believe that US adaptations (and movie adaptations of TV shows) don't have to be bad, but this awful high-budget, A-list cast, popularly-praised film isn't making it any easier.

I am visiting my sister for memorial day weekend. She wants to do some yard work tomorrow and we'll probably watch some of the WWE PPV.

Sunday is her husband's birthday. Not sure what we'll be doing. Monday will be the drive home!

I had to look up what this was. Apparently it's a combination of two of my favorite fantasies: being sent to another reality and being hit by a large vehicle. So I say thumbs up, anon.

I really only watch Scary Game Squad these days because horror games scare me too much to play.

It's not a question of finding recipes. It's a question of finding reliable sources for recipes that are trustworthy and don't suck. 98% of recipe sites on the Internet, the recipes are basically worthless because it's just the most basic bare-bones recipe possible, or even worse they come up with some weird crappy new idea they've never even tried. And reviews don't help because recipe reviewers are worse than useless. There's only a handful of sites that are even usable. And you can't Google for recipes either because you'll only find SEO spam.

So the goal with buying cookbooks is, if you find one that's reliable and worth it's salt, that's a whole buttload of recipes that you know you can rely on and even adapt, and you can generalize the techniques, and so on. And you can also pick ones that are tailored to your cooking style, whatever cuisine you're interested in, etc.

I loved the miniseries and I've never had any desire to watch the movie. This secret almost made me want to watch it just to see how bad it actually is, but I just saw the trailer and you know what? I think I'm good. It looks fucking terrible.
