Het fans need to get their shit in gear! Rabid slash fangirls can pump out the fic like nobody's business. I maintain that het fans have no one to blame but themselves.

Gotta say though, after seeing the movie, I can't think of another het pair I'd bother to write about if it wasn't Spock/Uhura. Maybe Kirk/Uhura. Other than the green girl, or random Star Trek Mary Sue, there wasn't much to go with unless you hit the old school cast. Which more people should... Gonna stop rambling now.

Canon-ship fans tend to be het fans for obvious reasons, and Spock is an obvious narrative prize for fandom (since he's the hot geeky one) so I'm unsurprised. But yeah, the rest of the het fandom just has to get itself in gear, even though it does rather make Uhura into the fandom bicycle.

Me, I'd love to see some Uhura/Gaila, but I'm always up for the femslash.

The Sarek/Amanda I've read so far has been pretty nice--IMHO there's a goldmine worth of fic potential in that pairing.

I more or less degree. While my OTPs in nu!Trek are Spock/Uhura and Bones/Kirk, I completely and utterly admit that I'm quite in love with Bones/Uhura.
