I'm not the OP, but there's more to the song's lyrics than just masturbating in the morning. I always interpreted it more as a song about loneliness. Specifically, "I am too busy to have friends/A lover would just complicate my plans/So I will never look for love again/I'm taking matters into my own hands." Which actually is kind of a depressing thing to relate to (and I would know).

Part of it is the expression of great loneliness. When I talk about it, I seldom get any response from my flist, and then I feel embarrassed for bringing it up. Some of it though is about masturbating, which is I guess a totally taboo topic despite the fact that many of us write porn and have no qualms talking about how hot it is, how hot certain pairings are, etc.

LOL, I think you have a point. It was interesting how much masturbation came up on the f!s anonmeme - great contrast to that usual state of affairs where we're forever turning each other on and never talking about fapping. And yeah, on LJ/blogs talking about the sex we have IRL is markedly less taboo than talking about masturbation...maybe because it's the very definition of self-indulgence. :P

I'm sorry that you're lonely, anon. .__. Tbh to me the song's always seemed more alone than lonely, if that makes sense?, so I didn't get what you meant at first, but it seems from the other responses like that's just my reading/listening fail. It sucks that you're not getting support from your Lj friends. I guess it's easier, especially for more aloof fen, to just interact around fandom rather than genuinely respond to moments of bared emotion.

Here's me wanting to be upbeat and say I hope you can find a way to be less lonely, but really I say dumb hippie stuff like that because fandom is most of all I have, socially, so I always want the best for anyone and everyone in it. :/
