I'm the same way, but I'm not as picky as you. Up to 15 seconds is fine with me (says the chick with a 13-second intro), but I have seen some utterly ridiculous intros, up to a full minute long. Seriously, what the hell?

I actually HATE intros. Even the short ones. I mean, it's so freaking annoying! No one likes watching it, and it's boring as hell!

When I see a fanvid with a intro, I don't even watch the rest. :(

This, so much. I'm pretty intolerant of anything past five seconds, actually. Ten is pushing it. What's worse is that they're generally something entirely weird with horrible editing to the most random snippet of a song, even when it turns out that the AMV or whatever is better. If you're going to slap something on all your videos, why don't you at least try to make it the same quality as the rest of the video?

Yeah, pretty much the same. I don't mind that you put an intro (though, I appreciate it a lot when they put the credits at the end- I swear, I watch them the first time. usually to see what song was used, and the maker if I liked the vid). I just hate when it takes half a damn minute just to start the AMV. I want to see your work, AMV maker, not your list of "people I'd like to thank."

Anything longer than 5 seconds is too long for me. But then, I'm not really interested in AMVs, I'll watch if they are recced or have a song I happen to love as a background.

Agreeing with the "five-second limit" thing. If they want to do something long and flashy, they can put it at the end of the vid.

I don't judge by length but by content and relevance. If it's nothing but notes and credits, it will be skipped if it were highly recommended by a number of people and I won't watch the video at all if it's just a random find.

A lot of the intros on YT are actually there so YT won't take down the vid due to copyright issues. If you put no song or a song ok'ed by YT in your intro for 20seconds or so they won't know that you have an unapproved song in the rest of your video.

At least that's what I've heard.

(This is not true of all intros, but it's definitely the reason behind a lot of them being kind of long).

If there's any intro beyond maybe a credit shot, I'm outta there. Worse, if I see from the counter that your video's longer than 5 minutes (sometimes 4), I'm also outta there.

I don't have a time limit, but I have one or two rules:

If I mistake your intro for the video itself and then suddenly realize it hasn't even started yet? Too long.

And if you put a ridiculous amount of work and effort into your intro...and your video is rubbish? I can't tell you how bad that pisses me off.
