Extremely random question

(Anonymous) 2023-05-30 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Does anyone have their nipples pierced? I've always wanted mine done but never been brave enough to go. (It's not the pain, it's more exposing myself to a stranger. I've got some body issues.)

Feel free to add your own random questions to the F!S community in this thread.

Overrated things

What really popular things do you think are extremely overrated?

Inspired by my current rental car, a Mustang. Everyone at work is obsessed with it, but I hate it because it is designed for short people and I keep banging my head trying to get in. I just want my car back.

Live action Transformers movies.

Everyone hits their head because of cars as well. And psychotic jets, metal apes, et cetera.

I'll see myself out...

The Mission Impossible movies / Tom Cruise.

People LOVE him. Mystifying to me - he has no personality, nothing to grab on to.

Oh man yes. Only thing I like him in is Edge of Tomorrow, and that's because he plays a guy who starts out as obnoxious and dies a whole lot.

I only saw the 4th one, and that's because the trailer showed Simon Pegg being a badass. So maybe other cast members are the draw?

That's why he was fantastic in Collateral, where he plays a soulless serial killer.

I don't really care for Tom Cruise, but I enjoy Mission Impossible movies. They are just stupid fun. (Also Simon Pegg being badass)

They're fine. There's a lot of directorial and special effects skill that goes into them. They're OK summer blockbusters.

But like... people *love* them. Todd In The Shadows had a tweet recently where he was talking about how generic and unmemorable they are and people acted offended like he'd spat on their grandma.

I understand everything else, even though I don’t personally agree with all of it, but...
Cell phones are overrated??

Yeah, I like a few select Gins but it's definitely overhyped.

Cell phones, for me, are like 70% "living in the future is awesome," and like 30% "fuck this low-key-dystopian piece of shit," with not much in between.

Agree about Titanic. I don't hate it, but IMO it was the epitome of overrated. Then again, I feel the same way about Avatar, but even more-so. James Cameron is like a divining rob for massive blockbusters that are extremely overrated but will nonetheless make billions.

Gin was the first thing I ever got drunk on, and fifteen years later, that first time remains the only time I've ever gotten drunk on gin.

People raving on about Succession or whatever popular show is all the rage right now

I'm a big Tylor Swift fan, and I think both Folklore and 1989 are really good albums. Folklore in particular I have listened to many times and I typically only skip one or two songs, if any. But I still feel they're slightly overrated.

I have one of mine done. Did you have questions?

Re: Extremely random question

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Was it awkward at all? What was the oricess like? I've heard they take awhile to heal too. Do you like it?

Re: Extremely random question

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh that should read process.

I'm just endlessly curious, but also my anxiety is placated by information. I'd like to imagine some day I'd get up the nerve to do it.

Re: Extremely random question

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
At the time I was very nervous and, maybe contrary to expectations, that made me feel less awkward. I was only concentrated on my vague fears and didn't really think about exposing myself to a stranger. My experience was that I was taken to a private area (I had the option of taking someone with me), then disinfected and told about the steps for piercing. The guy who did mine was almost certainly high, but it didn't seem to matter much. It did take a while to heal, but I think that might be due to a few factors: I have somewhat inverted nipples and because they pancake out when at rest it made the standard jewelry quite snug. I have large breasts, and my restrictive bras tended to irritate it. Also, I'm somewhat inept and lazy, so when it became irriated I defaulted to the treatments you aren't supposed to use (hydrogen peroxide, neosporian, etc). It healed up eventually, especially after I was able to exchange the jewelry for a less restrictive barbell. In trying to heal my various piercings I've found air flow goes a long way. I do like it, but I think if I didn't also have an unpeirced nipple I would miss that sensation. I enjoy the contrast.

I had a friend who got her nipple pierced, and she lost sensation in that nipple for a couple of months. She was really worried it wouldn't come back, but it did eventually, though I didn't ask her to elaborate so IDK if it came back 100% or not. It sounds like losing sensation is relatively rare--definitely less common that becoming MORE sensitive while the piercing heals--but either one can occur, which seems worth being aware of. :)

Contact lenses

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Is there a secret cheap place to buy them? I feel like there used to be good deals on some of the websites but they all seem about the same (high) prices now.

Re: Contact lenses

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if you have one near you or know someone with a membership, but a friend of mine gets hers from Costco and says it's a pretty good deal.

Re: Contact lenses

(Anonymous) 2023-05-31 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I don't think so anymore. Depending on where you are I used to use opticontacts, but that's nearly the same as 1800contacts at this point. I'm lucky enough to have insurance so if my prescription in glasses doesn't change, I use the benefit to have the optical give me a year's worth of lenses. Sometimes it's cheaper. Sometimes it's not.

I don't, but my daughter does. She's had them done for years. I guess...when your desire to have the piercings is strong enough, you'll get them. The piercest should be, basically, an unbiased outsider who will not comment on your body or your breasts, but only on placement and then aftercare.

Research, read reviews, go meet them; when you find the right person, you'll be okay!
