I guess my issue and frustration was just.. how do you avoid describing a main character in some way as ... idk different or standing out . They're a main character. But I don't know maybe I'm wrong.

I think the answer to this is to not describe the main character at all. What is the story about? Not on a technical level, Person A does thing B, but in general. Is it about grief? Love? Perseverance? Or alternatively, what do you want the audience to feel when they read it? Should it be humorous? Comforting? Will they feel despair?

These are the things your summary should be geared towards. What kind of experience is your reader in for?
