Yeah I feel this. Like the 2000s was the era I really got into media while getting into online spaces around the same time like fan forums and LJ where I could talk to people about these things in said media (and would point out the flaws too without turning into some weird moral thing where Everything Problematic and Uncomfy = EVIL).
It is interesting to hear modern takes on 2000s media (or anime in my case) - its an era I just remember growing up in and although my opinions have change as I get older, I still can understand a bit more of it having been there at the time (also nostalgia is a factor but yeah).
