I don't know what it about the likes of Neil Young and Bob Dylan where I love crooning along to their warblings...yet Adam Levine's voice is like air horns blasting right up against my eardrums.

There's always that one voice that one's ears cannot handle.

I like Neil Young's voice but I understand how others might not. I once had a story character comment that Young sounds like someone murdering a cat by repeatedly dropping an electric guitar on it. I wish I knew if I made that line up or unconsciously stoke it from somewhere.

I don't hate his voice, but I definitely find it harder to enjoy than Dylan's or Darnielle's, though I don't know enough of his music to be able to say exactly why I find it harder to love. I think maybe because, at least in the songs I'm thinking of, it's kind of mournful and meandering--not just tossed out (or spat out) the way Dylan and Darnielle often are.
