So I'm plotting and rewriting an old portal fantasy (western word for isekai basically) story and I had an idea that suits the story but then I got worried about I guess the "look" of it and whether it would be considered offensive. Would it be bad to have my character when gone through the portal change some features including a shift in skin tone? Would that be like... offensive? It's not dramatic it's a shift to Caucasian to a sort of super light light brown suiting the population of where she ends up, implied to be the work of a goddess from that nation.

Not offensive. But you can sidestep it by calling it a tan if you want.

Yeah I found myself deciding for practical reasons not to. A foreigner who doesn't understand the culture or language makes more sense anyway.
