Dumb Copyright question

[personal profile] dani_phantasma 2023-06-13 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
sooo question regarding copyright and ideas. If an author were to give another author permission to use details of a world they created and the author using it had that permission in their copyright page, would that be enough to legally work without any risk of being sued or getting in legal trouble? Asking for myself and a friend.

If you're about the publish a book, sounds like both authors should get legal advice.

I would at the very least want the permissions from the original author to be very explicit and with clear intent. Because you wouldn't want a situation where they turned around and said they meant detail A but not detail B, or that it didn't apply to published works, or something like that.

TBH my intent is actually to share my world with an author friend who's interested . But yeah I'll look into it for sure. Thanks

It moght be worth looking into the Creative Commons licensing wording for ideas on how to navigate this, though it probably won't be exactly what you need.
