Are you close to a metro area or college town?

college town, and my point still mostly stands. there are high-end ramen shops, but they're all $25/bowl fusion, not the kickass 500Y bowl I can get at a corner standup anywhere in Osaka. I'll pay for good but not for mediocre.

$25 in a college town? Yiiiikes. I guess I've been lucky in where I am in the Midwest.

I don't think you're ever going to find $5 ramen bowls anywhere in the U.S., unfortunately.

nayrt - LOL, maybe instant ramen. But yeah, no such luck and you likely wouldn't enjoy the quality of a $5 ramen bowl in the States.

There's pretty good $10 to $15 ramen (or Chinese noodle soups) but nothing cheaper than that. I remember when there used to be good $5 places here but that was 10 or 15 years ago.
