Well they do suck.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
lmao +1

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
no YOU suck

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's what your mom said.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The only way I suck is when I suck up the truth and spit it back out.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I don't tend to bother saying it, but I have to agree with you.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-16 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a weird kind of rage that never fully banks. I don't really deal much with the MCU anymore but if someone asked I could immediately go on a rant about how my love turned to hate and how they suck. But I feel you. Friends that always manage to steer the conversation to one persistent topic can be pretty annoying. You just gotta work on your diverting skills!

My love of MCU also turned to hate, so I stopped having anything to do with it. I focus on things that I like. I don't have the energy to waste on something I hate.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-16 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Same.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I still love parts of the MCU, but other parts of it have been ruined for me. I do my best to focus on what I still love, and ignore what I don't.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, too. Seems the best way to handle what the MCU has become.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I just got tired of it, but as for "hoping they fail"? That ship has sailed. Like, with stuns'ls set.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I think the MCU still has a lot of potential, but a lot of what has been done with it lately, combined with some past bad decisions, have really hurt it. So has the ever increasing entitlement and toxicity of the fandom. I'm hoping that Disney will be able to turn things around, but we'll see.

I still love the IDEA of MCU, and I will die on the hill of The Winter Soldier is the BEST MOVIE EVER FUCK YEAH.

It's the fic and the fandom that keep it alive for me, rather than the actual movies. Hollywood almost inevitably, in their greed and need for speed, ruin about everything.

(Haters are boring as fuck, though, and need to just go find a hole to rant in, 'cause I'm over them.)

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
THIS THIS THIS! MCU got better and better, peaked with Winter Soldier (the only movie I rewatched many times in 20 years), and has been in sharp decline ever since.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'd always rather listen to someone talking about something they love than something they hate. Not liking something is fine, but investing the same energy and time in it as you would in something that you loved is unhealthy, in my opinion.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
+1, if you don't like the MCU that's fine, there's lot of other fandoms to play with! Hatedoms are always incredibly boring and repetitive (I will say that it is a good feeling when you hate something and then you see other people hating it, but that's very short-lived.)

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I've seen, the loudest of those people were fans of the franchise until a specific decision (or a series of them) drove them out. It's not just "I hate this popular thing!" It's the betrayal of the popular thing they loved turning into something they hate. You see this with other fandoms too, but unlike HIMYM or GoT or whatever, the MCU is not only going strong but expanding. Sure, they could just ignore it, but fandom has never been rational about this kind of thing.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, hell hath no fury like a fanboy/fangirl scorned.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who was a huge fan of the MCU for a long time, to a degree I agree.

But on the other hand, it's not like the hate/disdain/criticism towards MCU comes from nothing/pettiness.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but I do think a LOT of it comes from entitlement.

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
entitlement for what? better movies?

(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You definitely need a new social circle. I personally won’t deal with the people who bring every conversation around to how great MCU is (or any other fandom). I’m beyond tired of dealing with people whose sole personality trait is being a fan or anti of something. And it started because of MCU and how many people I came into contact with who assumed everyone was a fan and would try to argue people into being a fan of the person responded with anything less than OTT enthusiasm for the subject. I’m now running into it with an acquaintance regarding HP who cannot grasp that some of us don’t define ourselves exclusively on being a fan of one thing. I can’t wait to cut this person out of my life!
