(Anonymous) 2023-06-17 02:02 am (UTC)(link)One of the things I find cozy about certain fanfics is that they involve much more emotional closeness and affinity and respect between family than I find in pretty much any American media. And that doesn't seem unrealistic to me, because I am close to my parents and brother, and was close to my grandparents, and a lot of the typical sources of conflict just weren't issues in our multi-generational house. Alternatively, I also like reading fanfics written by people who can imagine positive relationships between people in other roles that I've only ever had bad relationships with. What I've experienced directly is such a small part of what can exist and what is real!
