It took me a long time to realize this is the reason why fanfics appeal to me so much.

It's because it's fiction and especially as a writer I can write the most perfect relationships, whether they be romantic or platonic. I can make my characters go through so my pain and grief and drama, but I always know I can write the perfect ending to make things good again.

In reality, life is unpredictable and full of unfairness. Knowing that real life isn't fiction was one of the first steps in accepting that my life is what I make of it, not what I think I should get.

Enjoy your fics, OP. But also, maybe do some inner work to figure out what's going on IRL too. Best wishes. 🍀
