Yeah, its the thing I miss the most about my Livejournal days.
Mostly because there were spaces for the specific interest that you would have to go out your way to actually look up and take part in.
Whereas sites like twitter and tumblr are more open - so when a post gets reblogged/tweeted just about anyone can put in their 2cents (which half the time its in bad faith or purposely misunderstood) and often leads to unnecessary drama which most people understandably wants to avoid...
Not to say that LJ DIDN'T have drama, but at the very least people would actually know what they were having drama about rather than make it a very wide public spectacle.

I think LJ and early mailing lists ruined me because now I have such high expectations for interactions. We used to have such fun discussions that could go on forever! Now you're lucky to even get one back and forth exchange.
