Not sure what's making you think it's yaoi, but it seems like an interesting movie.

Probably they ship the now-teen victims together?

Having seen the movie, this is disturbing - but if this were a manga, I get it. Much to think on.

Yeah, I almost followed up that statement with "although one is gay the other is presumably straigth possibily ace and so so traumatized he's very sex-repulsed so" but thought it was coming across as judgmental? and remembered yaoi tropes--like that would stop shippers. (Then again, I don't ship them, I'm not even sure the OP does? I'm merely speculating here.)

Haven't seen the movie, but the idea that someone who didn't feel raped could keep memories for someone who was deeply traumatized by the situation appeals to me a lot.

It's a fantastic movie. Banned in Australia as it was seen as "promoting peodophilia". When I finally watched it, it was the exact opposite! Really interesting (and sickening) look at what being molested does to people. It's unflinching and doesn't hold back.
Not sure what OP means tbh in this secret.

So much this. If someone comes away from Mysterious Skin thinking pedophilia is NBD, I'd assume they went into the theater holding that opinion. But censors seem to universally believe they can prevent unwanted behavior by attacking *depictions* of a bad thing.
