In Australia it means someone/-thing that's really big, like overall big-ness. Eg: "Look at this absolute unit of a spider". I wasn't aware of it being internet slang, maybe it's morphed?

It did mean that, but then semantic drift happened. The same way "gross" went from "big" to "disgusting", "absolute unit" is shifting from "big" to "great" in some Internet circles.

"Big" itself has undergone a similar shift (I'm big on X - I'm a big fan of X), words in that corner of the semantic space just like drifting.

The fans were frothing at the mouth they were so angry about how bad this show was sp of course I had to go see for myself and I'm with you, it was actually fun! I loved all the characters. And yeah the implications that Witchers are born not made kind of fucks with the lore but idgaf. It was a fun show with surprisingly good production quality and solid fun acting.

Oof. Well, hearing that a lot of people just ghosted them for no apparent reason would've been a big red flag for me, because... yeah, there's got to be a reason and staying friends with them increases one's chances of finding out firsthand. Also, your friend clearly knew this and still wanted to put the burden on someone else for managing their problems, so that's not cool.

That said, I would've straight up told them that their insecurities were causing them to be clingy and pushy and that will alienate people.

(I haven't seen the video referenced in your secret, so i apologize if I'm getting the wrong idea.) Paul and Morgan were extremely periphery characters in the documentary, examples of the newer, less "unworldly", more public-facing fundamentalists. There was enough of their clips and interview to get that across to me.
