Well I was doing my daily stuff in FFXIV and about to stop to start FFXVI since it arrived in the mail this afternoon, then my new buns who were running loose did a thing and in my rush to prevent stuff from falling on them (nothing that would have done serious harm but it would have wigged them out), I was still holding onto the PS5 controller, and when I let go to catch the stuff? My hand was above my cat's water dish and it fell in and was submerged.

So I was like "AAAARGGGGH" on social media because looked like I wouldn't be playing FFXVI today, and I couldn't even manage to advance the text through the rest of the cut scene that was happening in FFXIV when I suddenly jumped up. And one of my FFXIV friends saw this and paypalled me some money to help with buying a new controller. :O

The first store I visited was out of controllers entirely.

The second? Had a single PURPLE controller.

So yeah. Some annoying stuff in the interim, but there are happy bunnies dancing around my living room and I have a purple PS5 controller charging so I can start FFXVI in a couple hours.

I've never had an instant pot, but a slow cooker is amazing. It can make such amazing food.

Seconded. I love being able to have meals that simmered for hours and don't need me to babysit them in the kitchen. At this point I have a crock-pot brisket recipe that saves me money on b.b.q. on the regular, and several soups that everyone looks forward to. It's great.

I love my slow cooker so much. I eat slow cooked steel cut oats almost every morning. And being able to put dinner on in the morning and then I don't have to do anything after work? Love. It.

What is something you wish you could enjoy but don't?

Mine is oatmeal. I've tried so many kinds but they just seem to mushy and flavorless.

It's not really buying a physical thing, but our house has been college chic since we bought it. Both of us are gamer/nerds and our decorating sense runs to "does it function?" But my wife has started wondering when we become real adults, with art on the walls and shit. So I looked into interior designers. I was happily surprised that we don't have to be fuck-off rich to hire one. I think we'll do just the kitchen and dining room to start off with. See how we like it.

I did a rewatch recently, and if the Xena/Gabrielle relationship is what you're there for, I am pleased to say it absolutely holds up. Some of the plots absolutely not, a lot of the other characters, no, and the special effects were never good, but honestly, the Xena/Gabrielle parts are 100% worth watching for even now.

DA Yes, and I would not block someone who said that, because that's not an anti-AO3 opinion. There are a lot of things that are not good about AO3 and the part about how they work with volunteers is a big issue right now. But that's a "I love you, do better" response, not an anti response.

I wish I could enjoy seafood. I live by the coast so it's somewhat reasonably priced here. And mercury and plastic aside, seafood is good for you. But it's so disgusting.

Well, basically, there are a bunch of problems with AO3 and OTW that OTW has been chronically unable to address in a timely manner for structural and organizational culture reasons, and I think that's bad.

Some of those are problems with the way that AO3 operates as a fanfic archive. For example, the lack of a system for canonizing freeform tags - that's a huge issue for AO3's usability as an archive, it's been a problem for I don't remember exactly how long but I think at least 5 years, and it's taken forever to address it in a meaningful way (and the problem isn't a lack of resources or manpower, because there's a ton of manpower for tag-wrangling). Other things are more organizational - for instance, there's a chronic deficiency in resources, support and outreach for non-English language volunteers and users. And there's a really troubling lack of safeguards and abuse protections for volunteers, and an absence of things like dispute resolution and conflict management resources, or people to basically serve an HR function, and an internal tendency to treat issues that do arise as fandom power struggles. And that's all really bad for volunteers and ultimately for the site and the organization.

So it's things like that, where there are real problems with the way that OTW operates, and the existing organizational structure has been extraordinarily slow and deficient at addressing them. And then people just circle the wagons, regardless of what criticisms people are actually making, and act like that the only people who criticize AO3/OTW are antis who dislike age gap ships, or whatever.

Yeah I call bullshit. These are annoying to make due to the seams, but they are actually incredibly comfortable? As someone who made one thats screen accurate.

A specific Gundam series. I love so many other series, but there's one I struggle to enjoy. Sadly it's the one most of my fandom friends adore and often at times, it is the only Gundam series they have ever given a try. I wish I could manifest the same passion they have.

Oh, same. My mom is a big tea drinker and has always tried to get me to drink it, too. When she took me to the UK for a trip, she made me try tea there and promised that if I didn't like it she would never ask me to drink tea again. It was still gross.
